SUMMARY:The Symbolism of the Tarot as it was Created with Robert M. Place
DESCRIPTION:The Tarot was created by artists in the early 1400s in Northern Italy when as enigmatic fifth suit\, called Trumps\, was added to the four-suit decks that already existed. This combined deck came to be known as the Tarot. All of the images in the Tarot can be compared in other works of art from that same time and place\, and this comparison gives us the best window into the meaning of the cards. In this lecture will focus on the symbolism of the trumps as the Renaissance artist who created them would have viewed them and we will glimpse the mystical philosophy that they teach\, a Neoplatonic philosophy that unlike the cards does stem from ancient Egypt. \n\n\n\nWe are asking for a donation of £5 which will go to the Galgos del Sol charity. Place is an internationally recognized artist\, author\, and scholar of the Western mystical tradition. He has designed some of the most acclaimed modern Tarot decks including The Alchemical Tarot\, and The Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery. He is the author of The Tarot: History\, Symbolism\, and Divination\,which is recognized as one of the best books on the subject. His most recent book\, Tarot\, Magic\, Alchemy\, Hermeticism\, and Neoplatonism\, is noted for its encyclopedic study of the subject. He has lectured at educational centers and museums on five of the seven continents\, and he has appeared in programs on the Learning Channel\, A&E\, the BBC\, and others.

DESCRIPTION:Schedule:  \n\n\n\nStart 12:30 am – meet and greet \n\n\n\n1 pm – Rashunda Tramble \n\n\n\n ‘The Tramble Tarot Toolbox: A Collection of Self-Help Spreads for F*cknutTimes’I’ll share a couple of spreads and tarot-based thought processes forthe crazy periods in life: divorce\, death of parents\, health issues\,self-esteem issues\, financial issues\, etc. \n\n\n\nTea break \n\n\n\n3 pm – Monica Bodirsky  \n\n\n\nI will be sharing my experience with shadow work and mixing divination systems. In this workshop we’ll focus on Lenormand and tarot and how using them together can provide in-depth answers and clarity you may not experience with each deck separately. I’ll share information about how to work with and integrate your shadows from both the Jungian perspective as well as my own spiritual experiences within the shadows. I’ll demonstrate the House of Shadows layout so you can explore your shadows. I will be using the House of Shadows 5th edition Lenormand as well as the Shadowland Tarot deck for this workshop. During our time together\, we will compare and contrast these three decks from the point of view of modern usage (meaning we will not get into history). While we can certainly use any of these decks any way we wish\, it is interesting to notice how they were designed to be used and are read differently by their various practitioners. We will assess the strengths and weaknesses of each deck and each reading approach. DESCRIPTION:*A TABI Members Event* \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHalloween is coming! This year\, we’ve decided to open up our traditional pumpkin-carving competition to include all kinds of arts and crafts. Pumpkin carvings are still very welcome! And so are other visual artistic creations and inspirations\, whether it’s crochet or knitting\, painting with oils or spray paint\, or pumpkin-arranging. Something with sequins\, maybe? \n\n\n\nWe’ll start a thread on the Forum on October 1st\, and ask you to submit a photo of your masterpiece there\, with the final deadline being Saturday October 31st. After that\, we’ll post a poll and invite everyone to vote on the winner … who gets a prize! \n\n\n\nHere’s your challenge: your work should be crafty; it should relate to Halloween; and it should also relate to Tarot. We can’t wait to see what you create!
