Zoe Ellen Fox currently lives in London, where she is an alternative healing holistic practitioner, a presenter of a highly rated podcast, and now a published author.

A writer and devoted guide, Zoe provides counselling to women using her years of experience studying metaphysics and spiritual practice. Most of her podcast is where she holds sessions and workshops supporting women to transform, reclaim their power and leave old patterns behind by using grounded wisdom and spiritual insight.

So I approached Activate Your Light with genuine curiosity, particularly because the title promised a blend of spiritual self-development and intuitive empowerment, something I am currently drawn too.

Fox writes in a conversational and reassuring tone that makes the material feel approachable rather than intimidating. She has also done the audio version for Audible, which is a lovely addition as she has such a soothing calming voice. One of the strengths of the book is its emphasis on personal empowerment and reconnecting with inner wisdom. Zoe consistently encourages readers to trust themselves, cultivate self-awareness, and embrace practices that support emotional and spiritual growth, empowering the reader and building a sense of self belief. I appreciated the positivity that runs throughout the text as it feels genuinely heartfelt rather than performative.

Throughout the book there are reflective exercises and prompts designed to help readers engage directly with the concepts being discussed, from breathing exercises, journaling and meditations. I found these sections particularly useful because they transform the reading experience from passive consumption into something more interactive and introspective, and allows you to put what you have read into practice. Readers who enjoy journaling, meditation, or intuitive practices will probably connect strongly with this aspect of the book.

That said, I did occasionally feel that some themes were repeated more often than necessary, and there were moments where I wanted the discussion to go into greater depth. Certain ideas around energy work, intuition, and personal transformation are introduced enthusiastically but remain fairly broad in scope. And readers with an established background in spiritual studies may find parts of the material somewhat familiar or basic.

Although Activate Your Light is not specifically a book I would look at and think, self development, it does complement one’s spiritual journey and practice quite naturally and gently. Many of its themes — intuition, self-trust, inner guidance, and personal reflection — align well with the reflective and spiritual dimensions of self discovery and spiritual growth. I imagine the exercises in the book pairing effectively with journaling after readings or with meditation.

Overall, I found it to be an uplifting and accessible read, especially for readers who are relatively new to spiritual practice, manifestation work, or intuitive exploration. While the book did not entirely deepen my understanding in every area it touched upon, it offered a warm and encouraging perspective that many readers will likely find motivating and affirming.

In terms of audience, I would most strongly recommend this book to beginners or those at an early stage in their spiritual journey. Readers looking for an encouraging introduction to intuitive development and self-empowerment will likely gain the most from it. Those seeking highly detailed spiritual theory or advanced discussion may find it less substantial, but the sincerity and accessibility of Fox’s writing still make it a worthwhile and enjoyable read or listen.

Ultimately, Activate Your Light succeeds best as a supportive and affirming guide for readers looking to reconnect with themselves and nurture a more intuitive, mindful approach to life. While I would have welcomed more depth in certain areas, I finished the book feeling encouraged, reflective, and inspired to engage more intentionally with my own spiritual practices and relationships.
