Taken from Sandra’s bio on Amazon: “Sandra Wallin grew up in the rainforests of British Columbia, riding bareback through ancient cedars and mountain streams.  Sandra has degrees in Science, Education, Counselling Psychology and currently, is working toward a doctorate in Ecopsychology.  Today, Sandra walks more than rides with her horses through the ancient cedars growing on a little piece of heaven near Vancouver, Canada where she lives with her husband, two daughters, a feral cat and two hundred and twenty pounds of drooling mastiff.”

Taken from Kim’s bio on Amazon: “Kim McElroy has been drawn to horses since childhood.  For more than thirty years, she has been known for her intuitive understanding of the sentient nature of horses and her ability to infuse her art with their spiritual energy.  Kim is the co-author and illustrator of The Council of Horses Oracle, illustrator and co-creator of Way of the Horse: Equine Archetypes for Self-Discovery deck and guidebook by Linda Kohanov, illustrator and author of the Way of the Horse Journal, and author and illustrator of From Heart to Art: A Chronicle of the Experiences, Philosophies, and Inspirations behind the Artwork of Kim McElroy.”

Review:

Sandra Wallin and Kim McElroy have brought the grace, beauty and energy of the horse to life with this set of 40 oracle cards.  They portray the horses of myth, legend and history to create this deck.  Horses are wonderfully sensitive creatures, they are our friends, our companions and hold our souls with theirs.  They offer their service to us without question, putting all their trust in us to care for them and treat them well.  The artwork here is testament to that.  Sandra and Kim have captured their very essence for us to see and experience for ourselves.

The guidebook explains each card in detail, with keywords, words for horsekind and for  humankind.  Each card has a story from the horses of myth and magic, and their lasting imprint throughout time.  Sandra and Kim’s love of the horse is oozing from the pages.  “Each card is alive with a presence, and each page is imbued with a frequency or gift”.  The bond you create with these cards is special, just like the one you create with a horse is.

Horses souls are pure, they are like angels with hooves, and these oracle cards offer you deep and wise messages to accompany us through all of life’s adventures.  Whether that’s hacking through the countryside, galloping along a grassy verge, or jumping hurdles and fences with the occasional knock down and fall, the bond of trust will see you through.

These cards remind us to have fun, to play, to run, to enjoy life, but they also reach into the darker recesses of life.  The magic of wonder and inspiration flow between the cards as they reach out to us with their wise messages to guide and support us in our human life.

If you have ever been blessed as the guardian of a horse’s soul, then you are lucky, there is no other feeling like it.  Their scent, unique language, and those eyes that look deep into your soul can never be forgotten.  Yet, if you are someone with no experience of the world of the horse you are being given the opportunity to explore it through the use of these beautifully illustrated oracle cards.

From the birth of the Centaur to the Spirit Horses of the skies you are invited into the Council of Horses to learn and discover them as you discover yourself.
