Yasmin Boland is a best-selling author and astrologer, whose works include, Moonolgy, Astrology Made Easy, Moonology Oracle Cards, and the best-selling Moonology diaries. The diary acts as a journal to help live ‘consciously and magically’, setting goals and intentions in line with lunar phases.
The object of working with the diary is to heighten awareness of creating one’s reality and, by working with the Moon’s cycles, we can bring about closer alignment with our desires throughout the year. The author describes working with Moonology as guiding the reader towards feeling and understanding the timing around Moon phases using keywords, prompts and meditations to plan your year.

My personal knowledge of astrology is mostly associated with the Tarot. I like to keep track of the lunar cycles too, but nothing like the depth this diary goes into, so I’m looking forward to filling it in with my own intentions and manifestation goals come 2027.
The diary is packed with detailed astrological information (retrogrades, eclipses, astrological houses, etc) and although the language can be a little flowery at times, I sense it’s there to keep the information from being too dry. Boland explains very clearly how the Moon journeys through all 12 signs of the zodiac over the course of a month, revealing areas of life where we may experience harmony or conflict (or neither) depending on which phase affects which star sign on a particular day. The author also supplies extra resources – videos, free personal charts, podcasts and the Moonology community.

Each month opens with significant dates and phases. Eg January 2027 –
January 7: New Moon in Capricorn
January 15: First Quarter Moon in Aries
January 22: Super Full Moon in Leo
January 29: Last Quarter Moon in Scorpio
Each phase is then covered in more detail as the dates come by. The New Moon in Capricorn for instance, includes keywords of Planning, Communication, Inspiring, and Exciting. The reader is asked to set goals and discover insights around these ideas. You then write down your (hopeful) commitment to these intentions.

The diary itself is visually appealing with a soft, flexible cover, white pages with shades of teal throughout. It measures 19.5cm x 13.5cm (a little smaller than A5) and at 258 pages is comfortably chunky. I don’t see myself using it as a day-to-day appointments-style diary, as the layout often has 4 or 5 pages of text in-between the weeks, but as a journal, learning and focusing on how the lunar alignments encourage and prompt me in creating positivity and understanding.

I’ve never kept a diary/journal quite like this before, and I can see that it’s a potentially immersive experience, and one where Yasmin Boland’s website and community get-togethers celebrating Moonology will appeal to many. I’m eager to see how I get on!
