Continuing her series, Emma Sunerton-Burl looks into the cards of The Sacred Circle Tarot, by Anna Franklin and Paul Mason, published by Llewellyn:

10 of Wands – Key Words

Forces; balance; transformation; last struggle towards goal; exhausted and weary; nourishment from the earth; retreat after hard work; holiday; release of patterns of over work or trying too hard; peace; centring; pendulum action to find centre; overdoing something as lesson; flexibility after stiffness; protection.

10 of Wands Reversed

Overwork; burn out; illness; enforced time out of life; stress; extreme tiredness; exhaustion; depletion of resources; need for nourishment; restriction by external force; need to ask for help; overwhelmed with tasks.

10 of Wands Transformational Potential

When this card comes into your spread it is time to make changes to your lifestyle; take a break to see how to. You need to push through the very last bit then be very strict about your rest. It is a time where the threats are now over and that the only threat left is your own fear of things not moving forward. Things will not fall apart if you take time out once the final essentials have been completed. Speak what needs to be said and make plans to stand back from your projects and relationships before continued effort takes them beyond repair.

10 of Wands Questions

What area of life are you overworking at?

What do you need to do to make the sanctuary for yourself?

What do you avoid in yourself by overworking? Now is good time to face this and release it.

Do you find it hard to ask for help? Allow yourself to be vulnerable and enlist the assistance of another.

10 of Wands Suggestions

Make a list of the things you think would happen if you stopped. Then evaluate the reality.

Plan a retreat and stick to the booking like you would your work plans.

If you are overworking at your relationship – take some time out and spend time with yourself – getting to know you as yourself again as a separate person rather than how you see yourself as a partner.

10 of Wands Affirmations

I am able to be flexible.

I rest when I need it and know all is well.

I trust in higher forces to guide me.

Obstacles teach me my next steps.
