Continuing her series, Emma Sunerton-Burl looks into the cards of The Sacred Circle Tarot, by Anna Franklin and Paul Mason, published by Llewellyn:

I look at the card and the word dedication on the card and notice how down to earth this card is. It feels very grounded and earthy and simplicity and power come to mind too.

I walk into the card.

“We are the guardians of the work, you will need to speak to us first before entering the inner sanctum.” The three heads on the discs say.

“OK Hello, how are you and what do you represent?” I ask.

“We are the keepers of the jewel. We protect deep knowledge of the world from being plundered for no good use.” They answer.

“How do you do this?” I ask.

“We will set you tasks of a physical nature so your dedication and determination is tested and your commitment to the path. We also are in charge of time in the sense that it relates to manifestation. We will ensure your thoughts do not manifest too quickly so you know that you truly want the outcome you seek. As your dedication is tested so we allow quicker manifestation. We serve you, but from your highest self rather than from your ego. We would not want you to make the mistakes you may have, if you were to manifest more immediately. Your feelings of anger, revenge, jealousy etc. would bring about horrific situations if there was no time span, so we serve to protect you from your most destructive self. Only if you are truly intent on self destruction do we allow these manifestations through and also only if directed to do so for your highest learning by your higher self. We are the guardians of the true work; what you are here to do. We will help you with this if you meet us half way. For every dedicated action and thought you have, we match and increase the power of your step forward more than you realise. We have done this many times.”

“Thank you, this is very interesting, and not what I expected here. Why are there three of you – what does this mean?”

“We are three for the three is the magical number of manifestation of spirit – first there was one and then two came for the one to see themselves and the from this duality and splitting so there can be awareness. Then came the three and whole new manifestation from spirit; the mother, father and child in a family; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Christian trinity; the three parts of the Goddess; Mother, Maiden, Crone. We are all of life in its completeness with its spiritual aspect as well as perfect physical manifestation.”

“What must I do then here to be allowed to pass and view the inner realms?”

“Allow yourself the time to be, as you move past us, only through your patience will the information come, and through your repeated attempts at re–understanding as you go through life. We represent the need to take things step by step, to allow life to unfold. Patience in watching your dreams grow. We are also the balance of the three forces in yourself – the active, the passive and the creative – as you allow these three aspects each their own space in your life you become strong and solid yourself and more towards the stability of the 4.

We represent the ability to bring your highest dreams into the world in a very practical way – grounded and realistic to what your body needs. In healing connect us with the root chakra and all it represents, your connection to your life and your growth from your birth onwards.”

“Thank you I will explore further, patiently.” I reply.

I walk towards the roundhouse, ancient and old beyond my understanding I know. I hesitate as I approach the entrance and am aware it is such a simple structure in one sense yet I feel I am approaching a temple; a temple to the earth to the natural world rather than one to spirit as often I have experienced.

I walk in and am aware of the most intense blackness and I feel safe despite this. I feel I have walked into the womb, to the void; the place from which everything springs. I sit in the middle cross-legged and feel as if I am a cauldron (as opposed to being in one). I also have the image of the womb–like space of transformation such as I have experienced in sweat lodges. I see light springing up from me and feel as if I am in the Initiation card of this same deck.

I sit for longer. I love the peace of this place. I feel safe and secure and also without worry.

I reminded of the Mountain Leader training I will be undertaking and I feel I am being told the effort of getting this will be worth it and that I don’t know exactly where it will be leading is not of importance. I have a sense that through physical difficulty great insight and growth can come and this is part of what I will experiencing in the wilds and it will be something I can lead others through to reach a wisdom on yet another pathway to the truth. Grounded wisdom comes through this method. Practical ways to experience the spiritual.

I give thanks for all I have been shown in this experience and in all the cards I have travelled I am grateful for all the experiences I have had especially those I have had to struggle with through extended periods of time. I am grateful for it all. I understand it has been necessary to achieve the growth I have. I understand the way things speed up as I have been dedicated to my path and cleared the way forward, my own ability to manifest has become more immediate and I understand how this has worked in my life. I give thanks for it all. I understand too I can let go of whatever I need to in this space and it will be transformed to something useful on the next phase of my journey.

I let go of my fears and feel my connection to my own power in a stronger way than I have before. I see a flame burn through me clearing these old patterns out of my cellular body, transforming me. I then feel surrounded by Light coming from above, filling areas that are left clear through the burning process. I bath in the light within the dark.

I then become aware there are figures sitting around me and I feel this is made up from my guides and soul family in Spirit. They pass round a pipe of peace and each breathe in peace with the intention of helping me experience peace within my life. I feel it is a healing ritual I am part of – in fact central to. I take the pipe last and breathe in the intentions from all the others. I allow myself to be filled with peace. I feel my body take on the healing and see an image of me being very flexible, and balanced, spinning slowly round on my head, then sitting peacefully with legs outstretched.

I then feel it is time to leave. I thank everyone, they say:

“Go forward and have faith in your physical body.”

“Your dedication will carry you forward.”

“Allow the Earth to be your support and heal you.”

I accept their comments and walk out towards the three guardians and thank them for their wisdom and permission to have entered the inner sanctum. I walk out of the card. I am surprised at my experience with this card; it has shown me so much more than I expected. I really enjoyed the experience and will return to this place for guidance and healing in the future.
