The Soul Reflections Tarot is a beautifully illustrated deck of 78 cards with a 288 paged colour guidebook that invites you on a transformative path of healing, empowerment and self-reflection. Designed as a companion deck to the Soul Mirror Oracle, it combines the wisdom of the Tarot with stunning artwork to open a gateway to personal growth.

The deck is designed to use as a reflective practice, encouraging the user to observe how our external world reflects our internal state. Each card represents a physical manifestation of our inner consciousness. By observing our responses, reactions, emotions and energetic shifts, we can take accountability, and navigate how to honour our own healing for transformation and evolution.
The author, Sunshine Connolly, born in the Philippines to a psychic mother, a descendant of the village witch doctor, now resides in Melbourne, Australia. She draws on her heritage to foster deep connection and channelling of other dimensions. She has also created the Soul Mirror Oracle, the Soul Mirror Journal and has an upcoming creation – the Oracle of Symbols.

I really love the artwork by Ana Novaes; her minimal colour palette is so beautiful in this deck, especially the box, elevated with touches of gold. The cards have a very pared back colour palette, which I love. If you like bright colours in your decks, you will not find them here. One of the things I like about a minimal colour palette is that any use of colour and light really pops, and highlights important areas of the card. The artwork on the card backs has taken inspiration from the Wheel of Fortune card within the deck to create a very beautiful card back.

The card stock is thick with a matt laminate, making them a little sticky to begin with, but they have loosened up fairly quickly to be easier to shuffle. The matt laminate will go a long way to protect the solid black artwork surrounds, which can generally be prone to chipping on the edges of card fronts.
There are keywords on the cards for both upright and reversed. I know some readers dislike having keywords and find these a drawback to reading; of course they can never encompass the complexity and depth of a card’s meanings and context. However new readers might find this helpful. If you were to use this deck through the lens of the concept behind it – one for soul reflection and self healing – these keywords could be integrated into journal prompts.

The card artwork is an elegant interpretation of the Waite Smith style, showing diversity, gender balance and inclusivity. I also like the way the court cards are interpreted, showing hierarchy and different levels of energy and movement with minimal use of people.

The guidebook is large, covering basic information on Tarot, a deck blessing, card layouts and spreads and also reflection prompts for each card, both upright and reversed along with the card meanings.
I tried the Soul Mirror Spread from the card layouts, which is a spread designed to be used with the Soul Mirror Oracle to clarify an issue and offer guidance to transcend it. It is a deceptively simple layout that has the depth to provide profound insight and guidance within a three card spread while combining the wisdom of both decks.

The Soul Reflections Tarot and the companion deck the Soul Mirror Oracle will be a valuable, insightful and beautiful addition to your divination collection. I am looking forward to using both decks more and discovering how they interact with each other.
