  • Tarot system: Rider-Waite-Smith, connected to the 78 organs in the human body

This deck has some truly unusual qualities. Each card is connected to one of the 78 organs in the human body. I know very little about anatomy, physiology, or medicine, but think that this aspect might be very appealing to a holistic healer, fitness and health enthusiast, or medical practitioner who is also interested in tarot.

The cards are standard size and beautifully illustrated, and the stock is good quality with gold edging. I got really excited about the box, which is very well made with an attached, hinged, flip top lid and decorated so tastefully that it’s pretty enough to leave out for show.

Unfortunately, the guidebook is a disappointment. The pamphlet inside the box has minimal information about how to use the deck, and a QR code to download the full guidebook. The typeface is very small, and I had difficulty reading both the pamphlet and the guidebook, once I figured out how to download and save it to my tablet. The process was not intuitive, and I had to try several times. I was frustrated by the small type and lack of navigation in the guidebook and eventually gave up trying to use it.

The first unique feature of the deck is the human organ chosen for each card. Again, this area isn’t in my realm of experience, but a few of them made basic sense to me. The name of the organ is printed on the bottom right of each card, but the contrast of the typeface is too dark or too light on many of the cards to read clearly. They are noted in the guidebook, but as I’ve already said, I found it too time-consuming to navigate the .pdf.

Another intriguing feature, that I truly wanted to understand but was unable to grasp, is that the deck is designed to read as an oracle deck when it is turned on its head. The pamphlet states that there is a ‘peculiar significance on any card that is read in reverse’ and that the reversed card will ‘indicate that the card holds special importance’. I was unable to discern a message for any of the cards I turned over, even though, when I followed the instructions to properly connect to the deck as instructed in the pamphlet, I felt a definite ‘current’ throughout my body. It was a warm and pleasant sensation, and I plan to repeat this method with some of my other decks to see if it enhances the quality of my readings with them.

This deck would be particularly useful to connect our inner cosmic system (our organs and their functions) with the astrological and elemental systems at work in the cosmic system we know as the Universe. And, if there’s a doctor, nurse, yoga teacher, or nutritionist in your world who uses tarot for insight and guidance, The Blue Apple tarot could make an interesting addition to their bag of tools.

I’ve included a three-card reading in the photos, consulting the guidebook that is included as a download:

Seven of Cups, Ace of Swords, Queen of Cups

The choices are endless, and they are yours alone to make. The only clear way to decide is to find the choice that reconciles your logical thought process, with what your heart wants. If you neglect either part of the balance, you’ll be disappointed in the long run.

Your mileage may vary!
