Here is another shout out post, this time for one of the many mentors who help people through the TABI free readings endorsement process: Mick.

I am a happily married granddad living on the beautiful Northumberland coast and am here for the rest of my life. I moved here from Cheshire a couple of years ago, and wake up every day of my life wondering how I came to be so lucky to live where I do, and with the beautiful wife that I love so much. I keep myself occupied these days with three things. By work helping to launch and retrieve the local lifeboat, which is very interesting more than a bit fun, though clearly there are some very serious issues associated with that.

Living on the coast way up north is an amazingly delightful existence, but there is one downside. We are an awful long way from the nearest hospital. I work with a team of local First Responders. We help out the local ambulance service with 999 emergencies in our community. That can prove very exciting, and is always interesting and fascinating.

This summer for the first time I have decided to organise guided walks around three local villages. I am having an amazingly interesting time. I get to know a lot more about the area I live in and love, and it gives me the opportunity to learn a lot more about the people I live with, and interact with and have a laugh with local visitors and tourists. The only downside to guided walks in north Northumberland is the weather. As I’m speaking to you today it is blowing a gale and very chilly. Clearly the walks don’t always happen as planned, but it is still a wonderful way to spend my time.

My background that led to reading Tarot is that of a professional academic nurse. Much of my career has been involved in teaching nurses. While doing that I adopted a very scientific and spiritual free perspective on what was going on in my life. A decade ago serious health issues led me to being unable to work for several years, and as part of my recovery I began designing websites. A friend of my wife was “funny” and led me to understanding my spirituality rather more clearly. I discovered how to act as a medium, and shortly after that became aware of the power and significance of tarot. Within weeks of discovering the cards, I was using them professionally. The excitement of Tarot  has never faded for me. I remain utterly perplexed as to how they work, and totally engaged with the fact that they do.

I remain a very inadequate medium but I enjoy using other tools, particularly runes, to help and support others. I am also a Reiki Master Practitioner in the Usui branch of ReikiI first joined TABI some nine years ago, and found the network very positive.

I learned and bought from the people already members of this exciting organisation, and I soon decided that I wanted to be able to help to support others to benefit from Tarot. I went through the process that enabled me to deliver free readings, and have undertaken weekly readings for TABI ever since. I still do that and find the discipline of undertaking weekly readings really very exciting. Subsequently I have worked supporting people themselves and taking the Free Reader development programme. This is sometimes a challenge. It is my view that if you find two people reading Tarot you have three meanings! I am working hard on my diplomatic skills, and I think most people these days find my approach tolerable – which wasn’t always the case! I am fortunate that I have been able to assist several people through the free reading program so far, and I thoroughly enjoyed the process of assisting my friends in their development. Through that I also assist the people that they help, which is a real win win.

The card that I used to represent me professionally in Tarot is the Magician. This brings all of the different elements of life together, at the same time as allowing things to be achieved that one never expects. I am aware that The Magician has a downside, and can be seen as a little sneaky and manipulative at times. But with me you get all the best elements, with nothing of the more challenging components ever evident! My favourite pack from which the Magician emerges is the Druidcraft Tarot. The cards in this pack are large, chunky and beautiful.

Just like me.
