TABI’s AI Policy: TABI Artificial Intelligence Policy

Revised January 2026

Purpose: Revision implemented to address the increasing prevalence of tarot decks, and other tarot-related materials, created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) when highlighted, spotlighted, or otherwise mentioned on the TABI website, TABI forums, TABI social media platforms, workshops, or conferences. Specific clarification below applies to the TABI CARTA Awards, beginning in 2026.

Historical Information:

With the rapid influx of AI created art, both visual graphics and written, it has become necessary to address these materials from the standpoint of transparency, and to clearly state TABI’s opinion on the use of AI for our members, and our mission to support the artists, authors, and creators in the broader tarot community. The TABI Committee’s stance is that we will err on the side of caution regarding the use of AI within our Association (CARTA Awards, event presentations such as workshops and conference offerings, social media features, et al. Our expectation is that content creators produce their own work rather than deliver AI designed or executed work to TABI for promotion. We recognize that AI is progressing rapidly and becoming more established throughout all aspects of daily life, and as the consequences for creators become more apparent, we may revisit this decision. Any deck created, either wholly or in part by using AI technology is prohibited from consideration for a TABI CARTA Award.

Likewise, AI books, guidebooks, or other written materials will not be eligible for submission for a TABI CARTA Award. Any creator (et al) who does not properly identify AI use in their CARTA submission will be immediately disqualified. Entry fees will not be refunded and any potential awards, if identified after the fact, will be rescinded and awarded to the first runner-up. TABI will not promote AI created materials on our social media platforms, and our conference and workshop presentations will not feature speakers who use artificial intelligence in the creation of their presentation.
