Book Review: 2027 Astrology Diary Southern Hemisphere: Plan your year with the stars

The 2027 Astrological Diary released by Rockpool Publishing in May 2027 is written by renowned Australian Astrologer, Clairvoyant and Psychic Medium, Patsy Bennett. Patsy has worked professionally as an Astrologer for 28 years, writing horoscopes for newspapers and magazines, as well as publishing books and oracle decks. Some of her recent releases include: Sun Sign Secrets: Celestial Guidance with the Sun, Moon and Stars and Zodiac Moon Reading Cards. Alongside this diary, she has also written for the 2027 Horoscopes Planner Calendar and 2027 Astrology Day-to-Day Calendar which will be released by Rockpool in June 2026.

The diary follows the dates of the Zodiac calendar. As we move through the year, each month  includes a double-page forecast outlining the impact of the sun’s movement through each zodiac sign for everyone, and then a specific section for people of that sun sign. Daily horoscopes are printed on each page, which will be great as prompts for journaling; jotting down how accurate or relevant you think the day’s message was. For example, 31st of May – “If you are dedicated to your work you could make great headway. However, you must be careful to avoid the battle of egos.” On this day, I may pull an oracle card for advice on how to avoid conflict, or pick a court card I consider calm and balanced from my tarot deck to help me channel this energy throughout the day, like the Queen of Cups, or the Queen of Swords if I want to remain detached and logical if I get into conflict that day.

Patsy Bennett has condensed so much valuable astrological guidance into this diary, so naturally the font might be a tad small for some people. Key lunar phases are mapped out at the start of the diary on a 12-month lunar calendar, and significant planetary movements are written on relevant days, as well as the usual holidays and observances. At the start of the diary, there are descriptions of how to work with the moon as it transits through the different zodiac signs. Interplanetary, Planetary and Retrograde aspects are also defined to make it easier for you to interpret when they come up in the diary pages. The yearly, monthly and daily notes on the astrological transits will be very useful if you like to do a year ahead astrological houses spread with your tarot or oracle deck, or if you like to align your spell work with lunar phases or planetary influences.

The 2027 Astrological Diary has a clean design, with minimal but impactful use of red and pink, and symbols for the astrological signs. There aren’t pictures like the 2027 Lunar and Seasonal Planner or 2027 Moon Goddess Diary (which I have recently reviewed on the TABI blog). The 2-day to a page format means there is more blank space for writing than the 2027 Witch’s Diary. The  diary is portable (A5/8 x 6 inch), bound, includes a ribbon but does not easily lay flat.

Astrology is a more mainstream spiritual practice than most, and as such, I think this would be appealing to a broad audience from those who like to read the horoscopes for the heads-up on romance and work, through to those of us who are serious about planning our year around astrological events.  I also think this is one of the more gender neutral diaries offered by Rockpool for 2027, compared to the 2027 Moon Goddess Diary, for instance, which focuses on exploring feminine archetypes.

If you are a tarot or oracle reader this diary will help you learn more about your lunar or astrology based decks and make practical sense of this information in a reading. My personal favourite decks I will use alongside this diary include: The Elemental Tarot, The Celestial Tarot, The Moon Oracle, Black Moon Astrology Cards and Parker’s Astrology Pack. Rockpool does have a range of astrology related decks too, like the Astrology Reading Cards or Cosmic Zodiac Oracle, but they might be nice to have to work with. Applying what you find out about the planets and lunar cycles from the diary may help you strengthen this aspect in your readings.

Out of the four diaries I am reviewing for the TABI blog, the 2027 Astrological Diary is my favourite release from Rockpool. I love it for its simplicity and ease of use, because it has ample space for writing anything from your bullet list of tasks, gratitude journalling, appointments to notes on your card of the day from your favourite oracle and tarot decks. I am a person who likes to add stickers and sketches to my diary, so the blank spaces and minimal use of pictures and colour enables me to personalise it. I will definitely be using my copy for work because it has a practical format, and the detailed information included on astrology will hopefully enable me to better ‘plan my year with the stars’.

The Northern Hemisphere version of this diary will be available in early June 2026 at all good online bookshops.
